GOALS

What are your goals?  Do you write them down or just think of them in your head?

I am a firm believer in writing things down, making lists, and checking them throughout the day.  A lot of the time we think of things that we should do or what we would like to do but get side tracked in doing something else.  Writing down your goals are the best way to keep yourself accountable for what you want to accomplish!  You save a lot of time, because instead of trying to remember what it is you wanted to do, you can refer back to it and visually see what you want to do.  Here are some goals I would like to accomplish by the time I am 26.  I know I bet you thought I was going to say 30?

1. Be on time!

Time is not my friend.  I am not as punctual as I would like to be.  Unfortunately, I haven't tried hard enough to change it, but this is it!  I am going to just do it!  Wish me luck.

2. Train for a triathlon / Do a triathlon

I have always wanted to do this, not only do you get in incredible shape it is something I'd like to say I have done.

3. Be more consistent

IN EVERYTHING!!!  Eating healthy, working out, being on time ...

These are just a few ... keep me accountable people!

poised.

"I have the ability to stay poised and centered regardless of what goes before me. "

No matter what happens in your life, have a positive attitude.  You always have a choice in every matter.  You can either let everything that happens to you become this huge black cloud that gets bigger and bigger whenever something new comes up or you can choose to keep your head up and move forward!  Every single struggle makes you the person you are.  Life is not meant to be perfect, obstacles are put before us because we can overcome them.

"Walk by faith, not by sight."

Is this too much to ask for? (insert sarcasm here)

(to my loving sister) I wouldn't mind if and when I got married my reception looked like this ... Would you??

self esteem - just do you.

" The world gets out of the way for people who know exactly where they are going."

"What you think and feel about yourself you will experience - as a man thinketh in his heart so he is." - proverbs 23:7

"You can choose whatever you want but one thing is for sure, the first wealth is health."

"Strengthen yourself: you can't take care of anyone if you don't take care of number one.  YOU."

"How do you treat yourself?  Are you well kept? People treat you how you treat yourself."

"Love yourself and the rest will follow."

"I only surround myself with people who LOVE me and SEE the BEST in me."

"I was once afraid of people saying, "Who does she think she is?"  Now I have the courage to stand and say, "This is who I am."

Take the time to truly love yourself.  Look at where you are and where you are going.  Find the beauty within you, respect yourself, have confidence.  Find things that make you happy and do them, whether it is working out, painting, fashion, books, music ... Make yourself a priority.  I have never been as happy as I am now.  I love ME and would do anything for ME.  Once you accomplish that things will come around.  You deserve the best as long as you give your best.

JUST DO YOU.

You are your star player.

A Day for my Mom ...

“A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials, heavy and sudden, fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends who rejoice with us in our sunshine, desert us when troubles thicken around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavor by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts.” -Washington Irving

Happy Mother's Day Mom ...

As we both know we have a special kind of relationship then most mothers and daughters have, thank you for being everything in the world to me.  Thank you for holding my hand when I was a young girl showing me the way and thank you for believing in me enough to let me find my way without you and being there whether I succeed or fail.  You have shown me the way the world really is, have comforted me when I need it,  you can mend my heart with just simple words without even being physically with me.  Being around you is a blessing but I know that even though we have our own things going on in our lives and we don't get to see each other as often, you are always there.  You have shown me the world through your eyes, never sugar coated anything, most of which has made me so strong and continue to become stronger.  You have made me into the woman I am becoming and I am so thankful to you for that.  I love you unconditionally and you have taught me something that a lot of people have trouble doing ... You have taught me to not just remember the bad things but most of all remember the good.  Forgive things that have happened to you and find what good has come out of the situation.  You have taught me things that a lot of mothers neglect to teach their children when they are younger; you knew that playing the role of a friend to me while I was growing was something that wouldn't benefit me in the future.  You are my mother first then as I got older you became my mother and friend.  You truly make me feel one of a kind ... you make me feel that I can do anything.  Just seeing and hearing how proud of me you are makes me feel like I am 10 feet tall.

I LOVE YOU.
MAHAL KITA.
ALWAYS.
FOREVER.

What Is Bikram Yoga?

Bikram yoga is a precise sequence of 26 postures and 2 breathing exercises for all ages and from beginner to expert. The postures will stretch and strengthen your muscles, ligaments and joints, massaging and stimulating your organs glands and nerves. Bikram yoga is performed in a heated room (approx. 105 degrees) to properly warm up your muscles, in order to prevent injuries and allow you to work deeper and safer. The heat helps cleans toxins from the body by sweating. Regular practice of this Bikram Yoga series results in the healing of injuries, loss of unnecessary weight, and peace of mind.

going bananas ...

Not only does the banana taste wonderful, it also has an abundance of sucrose, glucose, fructose and potassium. It is rich in fiber and contains 5 times the vitamin A found in apples and 4 times the pectin. The banana is able to boost energy, and is a safe preventative against many ailments. Below is a list of reasons why you should have a closer relationship with the banana.

Here are some neat facts on one of my favorite fruits!

Mosquito Bites:

Rub the inside of the banana skin on the affected area. In most cases it will reduce swelling and irritation.

Exercise:

Bananas give an instant, sustained boost of energy. Eat two bananas to produce enough energy for a 90 minute workout.

Overweight:

Studies show that if you are in a high pressure job, chances are you tend to binge on comfort food caused by panic induced food cravings. Try eating a banana every two hours to control blood sugar, keep levels steady, and keep the cravings away.

Ulcers:

Bananas neutralize stomach acid. They reduce irritation of the stomach by coating the stomach lining.

Morning Sickness:

You can keep your blood sugar up to avoid morning sickness by snacking on bananas between meals.

Hangover:

The quickest way to get rid of a hangover is to drink a banana milkshake. Peel 2 bananas and place in blender. Add honey to taste and milk to desired consistency. The milk will help re-hydrate your body while the banana and honey raise blood sugar levels and sooths the stomach.

PMS:

The banana contains enough vitamin B6 to raise blood glucose which in turn should affect your mood.

Anemia:

Bananas are high in iron and encourage hemoglobin production which helps in cases of anemia.

Boosting Brain Power:

Research has shown that the potassium in bananas can help in learning and brain stressing projects by making one more alert.

Heartburn:

The banana is a natural antacid. Simply eat a banana next time you have heartburn.

Constipation:

Because the banana is so high in fiber it can help restore normal bowel activity.

Stop Smoking:

If you are trying to quit smoking, the potassium, magnesium, B6 and B12 in bananas can aid in the recovery of nicotine withdrawal.

paradox of our time ...

Paradox of our time.

The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings, but shorter tempers; wider freeways, but narrower viewpoints; we spend more, but have less; we buy more, but enjoy it less.

We have bigger houses and smaller families; more conveniences, but less time; we have more degrees, but less sense; more knowledge, but less judgment; more experts, but more problems; more medicine, but less wellness.

We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get angry too quickly, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too seldom, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom.

We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often. We've learned how to make a living, but not a life; we've added years to life, not life to years.

We've been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet the new neighbor. We've conquered outer space, but not inner space; we've done larger things, but not better things.

We've cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul; we've split the atom, but not our prejudice.

We write more, but learn less; we plan more, but accomplish less. We've learned to rush, but not to wait; we have higher incomes, but lower morals; we have more food, but less appeasement; we build more computers to hold more information to produce more copies than ever, but have less communication; we've become long on quantity, but short on quality.

These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion; tall men, and short character; steep profits, and shallow relationships. These are the times of world peace, but domestic warfare; more leisure, but less fun; more kinds of food, but less nutrition.

These are days of two incomes, but more divorce; of fancier houses, but broken homes. These are days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throw away morality, one-night stands, overweight bodies, and pills that do everything from cheer to quiet to kill.

It is a time when there is much in the show window and nothing in the stockroom; a time when technology has brought this letter to you, and a time when you can choose either to make a difference, or to just hit delete...
